Preventing Violence against Women

WHISE works to increase the understanding and capacity of our partner agencies to work collaboratively in the Prevention of Violence against Women. We collaborate with our community and stakeholders to realise our strategic impact where women and girls in our region are free from gender based violence.

WHISE

As the leading agency for the primary prevention of women’s health in the Southern Metro region of Melbourne, our team and partners have the know-how and networks to work with community and prevent violence against women.

How we do this?

WHISE prevents violence against women using evidence based primary prevention techniques and strategies. Based on a feminist foundation, our team works across our diverse communities and the 10 local government areas to:

  • Support the implementation and work to achieve the goals of the regional strategy to Prevent Violence Against Women Preventing Violence Together
  • Build the capacity and capability of individuals and organisations on gender equity, family violence awareness and a range of other key areas
  • Work with community to raise awareness on primary prevention and violence against women and with community design campaigns and advocacy strategies
  • Work with education settings to build understanding awareness and skills on practicing respectful relationships
  • Support organisations to undertake gender equity audits
