As part of Nice Work If You Can Get It, WHISE worked in close partnership with the Engineering and Manufacturing Department at Chisholm TAFE to conduct a comprehensive Gender Impact Assessment (GIA), funded through the Victorian Government’s Women in Manufacturing and Energy program. This assessment examined the cultural, structural and institutional barriers that affect women’s participation, retention and progression in manufacturing and engineering qualifications. Drawing on student data, lived experience and sector evidence, the GIA proposes a detailed strategy for Chisholm TAFE to embed gender equality across student experience, staff practice, and industry engagement. The work offers a practical, evidence-based model to support systemic change and strengthen inclusive, equitable skills pathways for women entering Victoria’s manufacturing workforce.
