Women’s Health in the South East (WHISE) congratulates and celebrates the 32 inspirational women that, last night, were inducted into the 2020 Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
Each year, the Victorian Honour Roll of Women recognises women who have demonstrated remarkable leadership and excellence in their field of expertise, interest, endeavour, or through their commitment to the community. Since 2001, over 600 women have been recognised for their incredible efforts in Victoria, Australia and beyond.
Across three categories of Trailblazer, Change Agent and Local Champion, WHISE was proud to be present as the inductees received their much deserved recognition.

“We know that you can’t be what you can’t see and, celebrating great female leaders across all diverse walks of life is vital to achieving gender equality.
“Our team and Board congratulate all the inductees who inspire and motivate us to do what we do. We know that these women don’t set out to be recognised for what they do, but we embrace the opportunity to celebrate their work and bear witness to this recognition. It’s so important.”
WHISE was especially proud of a number of inductees that have close relationships with our work in the region.
Maya Avdibegovic is a not-for-profit executive with a proven track record of successfully leading teams and developing and delivering award-winning holistic services models. Maya was on the Board of WHISE from 2017 to 2019.
Dr Patricia (Paddy) Moore A gynaecologist and obstetrician by training, Paddy has spent more than three decades working tirelessly to improve health services and access to care for women and girls. She currently heads up the Early Pregnancy Service and Abortion and Contraception Service at the Royal Women’s Hospital. Dr Moore recently worked with WHISE and our partners for the Good Health Down South strategy to deliver capacity and capability building activities across the sexual and reproductive sector, providing medical abortion information sessions to GPs, nursing staff, health professionals and practice managers across the primary health care setting in our region.
Professor Danielle Mazza is a general practice leader, researcher and educator focused on improving the lives of women through access to better sexual and reproductive health care. She a Director of SPHERE, a National Health and Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence which aims to improve the quality, safety, and capacity of primary health care services to achieve better outcomes in women’s sexual and reproductive health. WHISE is proud to be learning from the SPHERE network.
