What is Elevate:    

Elevate is dynamic collective that focuses on health equity, gender equality, and overall well-being for women and gender-diverse people.  We seek to change systems and structures for sustainable transformational change. 

Our purpose is to advocate for health equity and gender equality, by providing a platform for women’s voices to be ‘elevated’ and heard. 

By joining Elevate you will be a part of a group that is: 

• Creating a sense of belonging and believing.  
• Building collective power and momentum for change.   
• Developing advocacy and policy skills to influence systems change.   
• Exploring concepts of privilege, power and oppression 
• Harnessing the opportunity to influence decision making and work towards social justice for the health and wellbeing of all women. 
• Sharing stories, food and fun. 

Members will have access to:  

WHISE endeavours to provide a safe, trauma informed space where you feel comfortable to bring your ‘whole self’ to the group.   We will do our best to design the program to meet the needs of all members.  

We will provide professional development opportunities on a range of gender equality and health issues and endeavour to seek opportunities for you to share your lived experiences and advocacy work to influence decision makers.  This could include policy events, meetings with ministers, submissions for government policy changes and more. 

Focus Areas will be adapted to meet the needs and interests of the group and could include: 

• Intersectional Gender Transformational Change 
• Preventing Violence Against Women 
• Sexual and Reproductive Health 
• Gender and Mental Wellbeing 

Membership: Open to community members identifying as women or gender non-binary in the South East Metropolitan Melbourne region. Appointments are for two years, with monthly meetings and optional training sessions.
