Social media content

Help spread the message that Digital Safety Matters: Get Switched On with ready-to-use social media content to support your organisation’s participation in the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Here you’ll find downloadable social media tiles with alt text, a short awareness video, and captions to make your posts accessible and engaging. You can also share a link to our interactive quiz on tech-based abuse to help your audience learn more about using technology safely and confidently.

CAPTION:

This 16 Days of Activism, WHISE and Elevate are raising awareness about technology-facilitated abuse, also known as tech-based abuse — when someone uses phones, apps, or the internet to control, monitor, or scare someone else.

Your Digital Safety Matters is about staying safe online and feeling confident using technology. Our campaign will:

  • Help you understand how tech-based abuse can affect relationships and wellbeing
  • Share simple tools and tips to stay safe online
  • Support multicultural communities in the Southern Metropolitan Region with easy-to-use resources

We’ve also created a Toolkit for Partners with social media tiles, a quiz, and guides to help spread the message: https://whise.org.au/support-us/our-campaigns/16-days-of-activism/

Together, we can build safer online spaces and make sure everyone has the support they need!

CAPTION:

Technology should help us feel connected, not controlled.

When phones, apps or the internet are used to track or harm someone, it’s called tech-based abuse — and it’s never OK.

Learn how to stay safe and confident online. Our Plain Language Glossary explains key terms in simple, accessible ways for everyone: https://whise.org.au/assets/images/pages/Campaigns/Plain-Language-Glossary.pdf

CAPTION:

Technology can be used to hurt or control someone in a relationship, or after a relationship ends. This can be done by a partner, ex-partner, family member, or even someone else living in the same home. It can be different for each person but there are some common signs.

Test your knowledge of tech-based abuse by doing our https://opinionstage.com/page/5f03bca3-45b3-4a6d-9b96-863eee1dac7c

If something feels wrong or makes you feel unsafe, trust your feelings and reach out for support.

CAPTION:

Did you know there are safe places to go to use technology safely?

Our interactive resource shows public libraries, neighbourhood houses, and Centrelink offices across the Southern Metropolitan Region where you can safely access devices, the internet, and support: https://whise.org.au/assets/images/pages/Campaigns/Safe-Digital-Access-Locations-Directory-5.html

CAPTION: This 16 Days of Activism, WHISE and Elevate are spotlighting free professional learning from eSafetyWomen – codesigned with community advocates, people with lived and living experience, and victim-survivors.

We know tech-based abuse doesn’t affect everyone in the same way. That’s why our curated list includes training for:

  • First Nations women
  • Women with disability
  • Women exposed to online abuse

These tools help frontline workers recognise and respond to tech-based abuse, embed online safety in client risk and safety planning, and support survivors with confidence.
